6 to 20. My prison sentence? Nope! My elevator ratio.
Posted on February 8th, 2008 in Fitness Journal weight loss
I was in the elevator today at work, because I have Bronchitis this week, so am having trouble taking the stairs because it lands me in a coughing fit, and I’d rather not cough right now, my throat is raw.
Back to the elevator - I was reading the weight limits, according to the sign in the elevator it says 3000 lbs or 20 people, and I’m thinking woah, wait a second. Which is it? Because 6 people my size equal 3000 lbs. In fact — the 20 people in the elevator would each have to weigh 150 lbs or less. So that’s how I came up with the 6:20 ratio. It’s pretty sad, but I’m happy that this will be the last year of that, I’d be happy with a 12:20 or better.
Now I’m thinking holy "insert profanity"(remember I’m an innocent Mormon boy).
Seriously - Americans are fat and getting fatter. I highly doubt the average American weighs 150 lbs. Maybe 200. Which brings the weight limit down to 2000.
Luckily, most people at work take the stairs and I’ve never seen more than 2-3 people in the elevator at any one time, but it sure does make you think…what if?
