There seems to be just two major meal replacements getting tossed around lately. These two shakes are Shakeology by Beachbody, and the Body By Vi Shake. Which is why I decided to do a Shakeology vs Body By Vi Shake comparison.
Disclaimer: I’m a huge Shakeology fan, and a beachbbody coach, I will try to be as unbiased as I possibly can in this comparison of Shakeology and it’s competitor Body by Vi.
The great thing about these two shakes, is that their company’s mission statements are focused on ending the trend of Obesity in America, and no matter which Shake is better, that is a very admirable statement, and they are both winning companies. In doing this Shakeology vs Body By Vi Shake comparison we’re going to see what the strengths and weaknesses are for both of these meal replacements.
All statements in this blog post are my own opinion, and only my opinion. I’m not a doctor, a fitness trainer, or nutritionist and cannot provide any medical advice as such. I will try to be as unbiased as possible when comparing Shakeology vs Body by Vi Shake.
Personally I like Chocolate Shakeology and will be trying the same flavor of the Body by Vi shake.
TO begin this Shakeology vs Body By Vi comparison we will look at the ingredients. We will start out with Shakeology.
The Body By Vi Shake also has many potent ingredients. This shake uses fiber and protein to improve digestion.
In one serving of Body By Vi Shake you will find:
Shakeology vs Body by Vi Shake Ingredient Winner
Shakeology is the winner of the Ingredients Verdict. This was a close race but Shakeology’s ingredients are all natural. Body by Vi uses artificial sweeteners which have very negative impacts and can lead to cancer. I prefer not to ingest chlorinated sugar, and use natural stevia over chemical splenda. Soy protein is also something I try hard to stay away from, as I’ve read articles that say it causes excess estrogen in men, and it can cause weight gain.
Shakeology retails for $119.95 plus shipping and tax for a 30 day supply. Wholesale runs $89.99 plus a $14.95 monthly distributor fee.
Body by vi Shake will cost you $49 plus shipping and tax for a 30 day supply. For weight loss Body by Vi recommends 2 shakes per day, which bumps it up to $99 plus shipping and tax for 30 days.
Both products have really awesome incentive programs for their customers and distributors.
The Shakeology incentive program is for customers on Home Direct(also known as HD). When you order Shakeology on HD you receive FREE shipping, two free bonus workouts, and a Shakeology shaker cup. Free shipping saves on average $10, and the workouts and shaker come to roughly $45.
For those who do become a distributor of Shakeology, also known as a Beachbody Coach, you will save an additional 25% which brings the cost down to 89.99 and you still receive the bonus items and free shipping. Being a beachbody coach is a great idea if staying on home direct for a long time as it will be cheaper in the long run.
The Body By Vi Shake incentive program is different than Shakeology’s. First they do not have a free shipping option, but they do have a program that if you can refer 3 friends who order the same package or higher, you will no longer be charged for your product, (except for shipping). They call this the ‘find 3 and your is free’ program. This is a good incentive for customers and distributors.
Cost of Shakeology Vs Body by Vi Winner:
The winner for this one is Body by Vi – but not if you’re trying to lose weight and are a Beachbody coach as you would need 2 body by vi shakes at $99/month, verses 1 Shakeology shake at $89/month + free shipping.
Both meal replacement shakes are of the highest quality. I got some comparison facts from foodfacts.com.
Shakeology has a score of 97 out of 100 on FoodFacts.com which is extremely high. Shakeology’s strengths are that it’s high in vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, iron, and protein. The bad news is that Shakeology contains added sugars from the naturally occuring fructose in Shakeology.
The Body By Vi Shake received a score of 89 of 100. It’s strong points is that it contains large amounts of iron, protein, and other vitamins. They really don’t have much listed as to the negative effects or “bad news” but under a little closer look it seems to be that to achieve the taste they use a number of artificial sweetener.
Body by Vi Shake vs Shakeology Quality Winner:
Shakeology. Numbers don’t lie, especially when they come from a non-biased 3rd-party. Shakeology actually has the highest numbers in the entire Foodfacts.com database. Both Shakes do put up a good fight, but overall Shakeology wins vs Body by Vi Shake for quality.
Taste is not a science, and is very opinionated. Yours could be different, and probably will be. Like I’ve said before, I take Shakeology daily, and I absolutely love the chocolate Shakeology for breakfast. I really do like the taste of Shakeology, I think it tastes like a real milk shake from a Steak N Shake. Many people add fruit and peanut butter to help make it taste even better, or to have variety. Compared to other meal replacements, Shakeology is a king for taste, outside the nutritional supplement world, it would even be good. The fact that it’s nutritional is just a wonderful bonus.
For comparison, I got a free sample of Body by Vi from a friend of mine who sells it. Their motto is: “The shake that tastes like cake”. I kinda thought I wasn’t too keen on drinking my cake. I did notice on inspection though that it does actually smell like cake. To get the real deal I mixed it straight with water because I’ve tried a lot of protein powders that taste gross if mixed with water, and not milk, and Shakeology tastes best with water and a little bit of ice. I was a bit surprised the Vi Shake does taste pretty good, it really does taste like a cake.
The Body by Vi shake verses Shakeology Taste Winner:
Shakeology wins. Personally, I did like the Shakeology better, When I add fruit to it, it tastes a lot better than the Body by Vi shake with the same fruit added. My favorite recipe is 1 frozen banana, a scoop of Shakeology, water, and a handful of ice.
You know this shouldn’t surprise you that a blog post on a pro-beachbody site has an article about Shakeology showing it in a good light, but the fact is that if I really thought Body by Vi stood a chance against Shakeology, I would throw away my TeamBeachbody membership card, and signup for Body by Vi.
Of course it’s your decision, if you would like to try Shakeology fill in the form below and I will let you know if there are any current specials running.
