Making money, Losing Weight, and Changing lives.

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 | Featured, Marketing with No Comments »

This site, isn’t just about my weight loss struggle. That’s a huge part of it - but it’s also my struggle to get out of debt, and be able to buy a house.

Along the same lines, I’m also trying to trade or barter my way into a house. I have a nice, cute pair of Fuzzy Baby Slippers, and I’m looking to trade them for something bigger and better, eventually, hopefully, I will be able to make enough trades, to be able to trade for a house, following the footsteps of that one dude who traded one red paper clip for a house.

The point of this site is to build up a support network of people watching to see if I can succeed at losing weight. So far I’ve lost about 20 lbs. Not a lot, but its a start. I’m always of course finding that it is a hard struggle. Currently I am working on submitting an audition tape / application to appear on the Biggest Loser with my wife, she weighs 220, and doesn’t have as much to lose, but I have more than enough, it would be nice to be able to lose it together.

We are also wanting to eventually go through in-vitro fertilization, if we still are unable to conceive after losing weight. That costs a lot of money, and we are also looking into adoption. Both are costly, but we really would like to start our family. The money we earn here both in advertising, donations, sponsorships, etc would be extremely appreciated. Please check out our advertising page for more information. I’m very flexible on advertising, and any ads you buy here will also be put up on a PR3 site @ www.blogcontestsite.com  and my bartering site: http://twofuzzyslippers.blogspot.com.

It is definitely a great deal. The thing I personally am proud of with my site, is that is not just another ‘Making money’ blog, which are a dime a dozen. This is about a lot more, and I appreciate all my readers, and the comments I’ve gotten on the blog, as well as in facebook, myspace, xanga, and livespaces.

BETA TEST: NOW HIRING! My other webfront Properties…. BlogContestSite.com, Theresabloginmysoup.com, Aboutbodywork.com, etc…

Friday, February 1st, 2008 | Marketing with No Comments »

In my efforts over the past year or so, I have acquired a number of web properties, my biggest and best is probably BlogContestSite.com, a contest site that due to time constrictions, is only kept up-to-date every now and again, which is actually quite a bummer, because it could be really big. I’d like to turn Theresabloginmysoup.com into something like Triond only with a better payout - I’d be willing to payout 80%, I just need to figure out the programming/design.

So I am looking for help - currently I’ve made approximately $35 off all my sites in the past year. Not a whole lot - and of course Adsense won’t even pay you till you reach $100. I’m looking for people to help me build daily active content on these sites - your job should you take it - is Create an account and post original online contests. Articles on marketing and blog promotion are also welcome. As are 1 post introducing yourself, and 1 post as a review of your own blog(you can review EACH blog that you own, but they better be decent blogs, and not made for adsense via wordpress blogs).

I am going to be sharing my monthly revenue like so: For each article you post you will gain 1 point or share, for each comment you post you will gain .25 shares.

Each check that I receive, I will be taking 35% for myself & site up-keep, and put 65% into a pool, your points will expire and be reset every 3 months, to make way for new bloggers, however you could go a whole month without blogging and still make money.

This ensures everyone who writes something will get paid. The minimum payout is only $10. I will announce each payment I receive. This makes it easier to track across multiple affiliate programs including linkshare, cj, adsense, and widgetbux.

Let me know if you’d like to be a member - Please note this is a BETA test of the program, so I am only going to allow 5-10 people to start. I’m

also looking for a programmer who would like a 50% share of the "admin’s" cut. Please Let me know by commenting on this post. Or email me: yourstruly AT patrickcurl DOT com.

Yay, blogcatalog, realized that this is a true blog…

Sheesh, I don’t know how I could get passed over as a commercial website…. I’m quite obviously a one man show, but whateva. I was sure the wordpress install would’ve tipped them off.

Anyhow, that’s my two cents on that - check out my community on BlogCatalog.

Building my network and Getting some Publicity.

Monday, January 21st, 2008 | Marketing with 2 Comments

This blog isn’t just about me losing weight - it is also a marketing experiment, as well as a blogging experiment, I used to blog about making money online, or blog promotions, but ironically never made money doing this, mostly because the ‘make money’ blogging niche is the most saturated niche. How many bloggers, can say they weigh 555 lbs, and lose 300 lbs while everyone watches.

I’m working right now on building an infrastructure.

Currently, I’ve got a page for xanga, myspace, facebook, etc.. However for some reason Blog Catalog, doesn’t think this is a blog, yet why else would I have a domain name, and a wordpress install?

I’m hoping they change their mind because I always liked that site.

Mybloglog, on the other hand had no issues. Neither did Technorati.

I’ll be adding even more - My goal is to get networked up the wazoo — and one great way to help me out - is to tell all your friends to bookmark my pages, and tell everyone they know, and maybe a few people will have the means to help me out. That’s all I ask, or want.

Lets see how far this project can spread.

My goal after this is to pick 5-10 people who weigh have a BMI of 50 or greater, and help change their lives as well.
